Social Accountability in the Health Sector
The Social Accountability in the Health Sector (SAHS) project aimed to improve citizen engagement to improve accountability in health sector in Nepal. SAHS focused on collaborating with civil society groups, national policy actors, and government health institutions to understand the challenges and deepen social accountability efforts in the health sector. Through the recommendations from situational analyses, applied political economy analyses, and multi-stakeholder dialogue, key health sector actors are able to implement more effective social accountability initiatives. The project ultimately contributed to Nepal’s National Health Sector Program III, which was designed to improve health services in Nepal, particularly for socially excluded groups.
