Projects Shared Ground

Shared Ground

Ghana is the world’s second largest cocoa producer, but has seen declining production in the past few years partly due to a boom in artisanal and small-scale mining due to rise in the global gold price. Shared Ground is a peacebuilding project that aims to increase community cohesion between cocoa farmers and gold miners in Ghana and enhance the resilience and sustainability of both sectors. The project engages stakeholders in social dialogue workshops where gold mining and cocoa farming communities come together to share their perspectives, develop mutual understanding, and identify action points for conflict resolution. Project partners include Solidaridad and the Ghana Cooperative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Association Limited – an umbrella association of Ghanian cocoa unions.
