Global Fund Tuberculosis Program

Pact was a principal recipient of the Global Fund Round 8 funding (2010 – 2016), a Tuberculosis (TB) control and prevention program. Under this program, Pact focused on community TB care and community monitoring and evaluation, including prevention of TB in high-risk groups through increased community awareness, communication and social mobilization campaigns, enhanced detection and referrals of patients and support during six-month treatment plans, and effective results measurement. Pact trained and deployed more than 1,000 community workers, who played a critical role in the community health system. The program focused on priority populations that were most at risk of contracting TB, including populations in remote and low-income regions, populations of the country’s 30 largest penitentiaries, and populations in mining and extraction zones. Pact forged partnerships with the government (Ministry of Health), national non-governmental organizations and the private sector (health service providers) to implement this program.
