Europe
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, countries across Eastern Europe have sought to overcome its legacies: censorship, propaganda, corruption and inadequate social services. Pact has been beside them, working to build new democratic futures.
For nearly a decade, Pact supported local organizations in Ukraine working to advance democratic reforms, build demand for fundamental European values and forge a robust civil society. In addition to providing them funding to carry out their work, Pact helped strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian civil society organizations through analyses, training, mentorship, coalition building, and more.
Pact has also supported Ukrainian organizations that are responding to HIV and AIDS and advancing gender equality and the rights of women and girls. And we have played a critical role in supporting people's health and mental health amid Russia's war in Ukraine.
