Past Project

Empowerment for People in Need

Working in Myanmar's Mon State, Empowerment for People in Need worked to build economic resilience and recovery from the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the economic empowerment of groups including women, migrants, youth, and people living with disabilities. The project also focused on addressing personal and environmental factors related to disabilities, including negative attitudes toward people living with disabilities, inaccessible transportation and public buildings, and limited social support. It scaled up community WASH and waste management activities to encourage the creation of safe, clean, and productive communities that promote health and livelihood outcomes for rural and vulnerable populations. The project also delivered an advocacy curriculum to educate community members on topics important to their success as business owners and members of their respective communities.
