Data Driven Advocacy

From September 2017 to November 2023, the Data Driven Advocacy (DDA) Activity received funding from USAID to improve and sustain Tanzanian rights-focused civil society’s ability to advocate for, and influence policy on, key national-level human rights issues using better data and information to drive results. The project:

  • Mentored and provided technical assistance to rights-focused CSOs in data collection, evidence-based advocacy, operating in closing spaces, digital advocacy, strategic litigation, and digital and physical protection.
  • Supported those CSOs to build or strengthen platforms for coordination with diverse stakeholders.
  • Built their institutional capacity to ensure sustainability of outcomes.
  • Provided them with the resources and mentorship they required to better engage with the government and contribute to a more data-driven, human rights-focused policy-making process.
